PlanetDAO’s work was recently featured on TV Tokyo’s “WBS (World Business Satellite).”
The segment covered two projects: Hokoji Temple in Nachikatsuura, Wakayama Prefecture, and The Hojo Heritage in Sado, Niigata Prefecture.
The chief priest who oversees Hokoji Temple spoke of wanting to avoid simply watching the building decay, expressing hope that outside perspectives could bring new value and ideas to the site. A local resident also spoke candidly about how aging in the community has made the temple increasingly difficult to maintain — a voice that captured the urgency felt on the ground.
At The Hojo Heritage, the segment followed a co-owner family from the UK visiting the property before renovation work began. They spoke of wanting to see the site with their own eyes before construction started, of feeling part of preserving a piece of history through their investment, and of the joy of being involved emotionally, not just financially.
A studio guest praised the model as a new form of regional revitalization — “global capital, local heritage.”
PlanetDAO will continue to contribute to the future of these regions and to a sustainable model for culture and tourism through the co-ownership of cultural heritage properties.
